Snow leopards are found at altitudes between 9,800 and 17,000 feet in the high, rugged mountains of Central Asia. China contains about 60% of snow leopards habitat. They have already disappeared from certain parts of Mongolia, which is part of their historic range. China, parts of Mongolia, India, are all places snow leopards live. That is basically Central Asia.
Threats
Habitat loss is one of the snow leopard’s threats. Poaching is a big threat to the snow leopards because of their beautiful coat of fur. The impact of climate change is also a threat to the snow leopard. The snow leopard’s numbers are dwindling fast.
Pretadors and Enemies
Snow leopards are very powerful predators that are only hunted by humans. While snow leopards are occasionally killed by humans for their meat, they are mostly killed by poachers who sell the animal's fur, bones and other body parts to collectors and traditional Asian medicine practitioners.
Defense Mechanisms
Snow leopards don't usually use defense for fighting off predators because it is pretty much the boss of its area. If it did use its defense it would hiss, growl, fluff up their fur, bare their teeth, or put their ears back and attack just like a normal house cat would do.
